Tawilis (tah-wee-lees) – A tiny freshwater fish found only in Taal Lake.

Tartlets and Pineapple Jam – Sweet local treats made from nearby farms.

Tagaytay (tah-guy-TIE) – The city’s name comes from the Tagalog words “taga” (to cut) and “itay” (father), from a legend of a boy shouting “Taga, Itay!” (“Strike, Father!”) during a wild boar chase.

Tagalog words you might hear:

“Malamig” (mah-lah-MEEG) – cold

“Ganda!” (gahn-DAH) – beautiful!

“Kain tayo!” (KAH-in TAH-yoh) – Let’s eat!

Taal Volcano is called a “volcano within a lake within a volcano!”
That’s because it sits inside a lake that’s actually part of a larger, older volcano crater.

☀️ November to March – Cool, dry months with clear views of the lake.
💡 Bring a light jacket — it can get chilly in the evenings!
