Langit-Lupa

A tag game where only those standing on “langit” (high ground) are safe.

Players
• At least 3 or more players — the more, the better!
• Choose one player to be “It” (Taya) to start the game.

Play Area
• A safe, open space — such as a playground, schoolyard, or backyard.
• You’ll need places to climb or step on (like benches, stairs, rocks, or platforms).
• Make sure the area is clear of sharp or dangerous objects.

Energy and Quick Feet!
• No special tools needed — just your speed, balance, and excitement!

Choose the Taya (It)
• Players decide who will start as “It” by playing “Jack-en-Poy” (rock–paper–scissors).
• The one who loses becomes the Taya.

Define the “Langit” and “Lupa”
• Langit (Heaven) – any elevated spot (like a chair, step, or rock) where players are safe from being tagged.
• Lupa (Earth) – the ground area where players can be tagged.

Everyone Finds a Spot
• The Taya starts on the ground, while the other players quickly move to different safe (Langit) positions.

1. Start the Chant
The game begins with the group chanting together:
“Langit, lupa, impyerno, im-im-im!” (“Heaven, earth, hell, im-im-im!”)
“Taya!” (“You’re it!”)
(While chanting, everyone moves around — climbing up and down from Langit to Lupa.)

2. Run and Dodge!
• When the chant ends, everyone must quickly move to a new spot.
• The Taya tries to tag someone who’s still on the ground (Lupa).

3. Tagging Rules
• Players standing on Langit (elevated spots) are safe and can’t be tagged.
• Players caught on Lupa (ground) can be tagged by the Taya.
• Once a player is tagged, they become the new Taya.

4. Keep the Game Going
• The new Taya leads the next round.
• Repeat the chant and continue running, climbing, and tagging!

Game Tips
• Be quick and smart — jump to safety before the Taya reaches you!
• Take turns fairly and avoid pushing others when climbing or jumping.

🏆 Winning and Fun
There are no fixed winners or losers in Langit-Lupa — the fun is in the chasing, dodging, and laughing together!
It’s a great game for building agility, coordination, and teamwork, while keeping the joyful spirit of Filipino childhood play alive.
