Agawan Base
A team tag game where players try to guard their base while stealing the other team’s base.
- At least 4 players (more players make it more exciting!)
- Divide into two equal teams
Bases
• Two markers for bases — such as trees, rocks, cones, or chalk circles
Treasure or Flag
• One small object for each team, like a handkerchief, ball, or stick
Open Space
• A wide, outdoor area with room to run — a park, field, or playground works best
1. Mark the Bases
• Choose one base for Team A and one for Team B
• Place each base far apart but still within sight of each other
2. Place the Treasures
• Put each team’s treasure or flag inside their own base
3. Set Boundaries
• Mark the area where players can run and chase
• Make sure everyone understands where safe zones and play areas are
4. Form Teams and Stand by Your Base
• All players go to their own base and get ready to play
5. Review the Rules
• Make sure both teams know how to tag, free prisoners, and win the game before starting
1. Form Two Teams
Divide the players into two equal teams — Team A and Team B.
2. Choose Your Bases
Each team selects one spot to serve as their base.
• The bases should be far apart from each other.
• All players start by standing at their own base.
3. Get Ready
Both teams prepare to run and face off once everyone is at their base.
4. Start the Chase
Players run and try to tag members of the opposing team.
• Be careful — don’t get tagged first!
5. Prisoners Rule
If a player is tagged, they become a prisoner and must stay at the other team’s base.
6. Free Your Teammates
You can rescue a captured teammate by tagging them — but watch out, you can be tagged while doing so!
7. Capture the Treasure
The main goal is to get the other team’s treasure (or flag/object) without being tagged.
8. Winning the Game
The team that successfully takes the opponent’s treasure and brings it back to their base wins!
- Agawan (ah-gah-WAHN) — to steal/grab
- Agawan tayo ng base! (ah-gah-WAHN TAH-yoh nang BEYS) — “Let’s play!”
